Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists. The organization was founded on a promise between two sisters. To fulfill its promise to empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures, Komen for the Cure provides grants for research and community breast health programs and treatment. Komen for the Cure has funded every major advance in breast cancer research over the past 25 years. Millions are engaged through events like the Komen Race for the Cure in local communities all across the U.S. and in several countries around the world, including the newest: KOSOVO! Join the First Annual Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness on Sunday, October 19, 2008 starting at the National Theater!

 CURE BREAST CANCER.ORG 

In 1998 the United States issued its first fund-raising postage stamp, the Breast Cancer Research Stamp (BCRS), and to date proceeds from the Stamp have reached almost $70 million that has gone for breast cancer research. In the past ten years, seven countries have issued this Stamp and raised money for their particular needs and in 2008, KOSOVO will be the eighth!

 

 

 “CANCER SCHMANCER” MOVEMENT

- A SHORT INTERVIEW WITH AMERICAN TV STAR FRAN DRESCHER IN AN AMERICAN MAGAZINE - AARP

“Cancer Schmancer” was established in 2007 by Fran Drescher, “Miss Fine” on television’s The Nanny, a show she created and produced.  Surviving uterine cancer herself, she has become a powerful advocate for galvanizing women to alert their elected officials that the women’s vote is very powerful. “Cancer Schmancer” is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all women's cancers are diagnosed while in STAGE 1, when it's most curable.

The “Cancer Schmancer” Movement was instrumental in getting the Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Act passed into law by unanimous consent in the 109th U.S. Congress. 

 EUROPA DONNA

EUROPA DONNA (ED), the European Breast Cancer Coalition, is an independent non-profit organisation whose members are affiliated groups from countries throughout Europe. 
The Coalition works to raise awareness of breast cancer and to mobilise the support of European women in pressing for improved breast cancer education, appropriate screening, optimal treatment and increased funding for research. ED represents the interests of European women regarding breast cancer to local and national authorities as well as to institutions of the EU.

TEUTA Magazine is Kosovo’s most popular women’s monthly magazine. In June 2008, they featured an article on breast cancer and Dr. Balazs Bodai’s efforts to raise funds for research.

 BREAST HEALTH GLOBAL INITIATIVE

The Breast Health Global Initiative (BHGI) strives to develop, implement and study evidence-based, economically feasible, and culturally appropriate "Guidelines for International Breast Health and Cancer Control" for low- and middle-income countries to improve breast health outcomes. They also work with The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, among others.

  WOMEN’S NETWORK OF KOSOVA 

 

 


KWN has developed into a network that advocates on behalf of Kosovar women, at the local, regional and international level. Representing the interests of more than 80 women’s organizations of all ethnic groups from throughout Kosova, KWN is a leader among civil society organizations in Kosova and the region.

In 2006, KWN became the first network of not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations in Kosova to adopt a code of conduct, setting an example of transparency and accountability.

 WOMEN’S CANCER NETWORK (WCN)

 

 

The mission of the Women's Cancer Network is to keep women informed and to enable them to be their own health advocates. The Women's Cancer Network was developed by The Gynecologic Cancer Foundation (GCF). The WCN is an interactive web site dedicated to informing women around the world about gynecologic cancer. Our goal is to assist women who have developed cancer, as well as their families, to understand more about the disease, learn about treatment options, and gain access to new or experimental therapies.
