USOP Statement on LDK Elections

The U.S. Office in Pristina wishes to congratulate President Sejdiu on his victory December 9 in the LDK election through a fair and transparent process. The U.S. Office considers it highly unfortunate that the party conference was marred by violence instigated by those unhappy with the election results. There is no role in democratic politics for this kind of behavior. We look forward to working with the newly elected LDK party leadership on all of the issues important to Kosovo’s future, including the status process.
