US judges congratulate Supreme Court President Rexhep Haxhimusa on his award.
Supreme Court President Receives US Award (Jan. 31, 2006)

Supreme Court President Rexhep Haxhimusa traveled to the United States January 14, 2006 until January 24, 2006. On Monday, January 16, President Haxhimusa was presented with an award by the National Center for State Courts, Williamsburg, recognizing his “distinguished service” to the Kosovo Courts particularly focusing on Judge Haxhimusa's contribution to the independence of the judiciary in Kosovo. The award was presented at the Conference of Chief Justices of the state courts of the United States during their session on Judicial Independence. This kind of award is presented to the USA chief judges on the annual conference and this year for the first time the award is given to the international candidate President Haxhimusa recognizing importance of the international work toward independent judiciary. Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard of Indiana, President of the Conference of Chief Justices, made the presentation.

During the following days, Judge Haxhimusa was in Washington D.C. and met with; U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice, John Roberts, U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, Ambassador Thomas Adams, ACE, U.S. Department of State, the NCSC International Programs Division at their Arlington Virginia offices, the USAID, Assistant Administrator, Bureau for Eurpope and Eurasia, Drew Luten and his staff, Chief Judge Rufus King of the D.C. Court, Sheldon Krantz of DLA Piper law firm, and the Williamsburg offices of NCSC.
